How Massage Therapy Works
This course is designed to help manual therapists gain a greater understanding into the most up-to-date research around fascia, pain, touch stimulus and how these concepts interact with the brain. Through this interaction we delve into the idea of neuroplasticity and how it is that we, as manual therapists can take advantage of this connection to help reeducate the body’s movement and pain patterns.

Students should plan on bringing a couple sets of sheets and comfortable clothing that is flexible to work in such as sports bras and stretchy shorts. NHI Emeryville campus will have massage tables for our use.
Per Troy the instructor, “A notepad and pencil will be invaluable as there’s a lot of science in my class that people will want to take notes of. I believe I have 11 pages of research references with over 170 research papers that people will likely want to delve into on their own, hopefully.” Course handouts to be emailed several days beforehand. If a printed handout is preferred, please print a copy. Printed copies are not provided.
