President’s Message – Fall 2020

“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” – Albert Schweitzer

It is the time of year in which we begin to reflect and plan. As I reflect on this year, I have a lot of thoughts, as I am sure we all do. The challenges and obstacles we have faced in our personal and professional lives have pushed us into uncomfortable realms. I have seen people tackle the obstacles before them and achieve some incredible results. I feel that is the greatest thing about this year. We have grown in ways we most likely have never imagined.

While it is valuable and important to acknowledge the trials, struggles, and pain; as a Massage Therapist I feel it is important that we find and celebrate the accomplishments, the journeys, and the success. I am positive we can each find a moment in which we felt connected to something greater than ourselves. It is this connection that will propel us forward and it is this connection which will guide the actions of this Chapter.

We are making incremental changes that we hope will alter our standard operating procedures; the board is working diligently to create opportunities to connect with the members; we have begun planning our 2021 Virtual State Conference; and our newsletter is getting a new look. We have the authorization to move forward on initiatives that have been awaiting approval and we are looking forward to seeing you soon!

Find those that can keep your flame burning. Find activities that inspire higher achievement. Share your success. Encourage others. These are the acts in which we can all participate and have lasting effects. My favorite quote from Maya Angelou, ”I have learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Let us all be unforgettable.
